“The absence of fathers is the absence of direction to life”

Fathers are very important in life both in the lives of their sons and their daughters. The father’s love alone is enough to keep the children and to make them feel secured in the home and we can’t push away the presence of a father in a child’s life. Fathers are needed to help give direction to the children and to help the children in the path that they should follow. Let’s see the reason we need to secure fatherhood in detail with the view of God in fatherhood.

  • For instruction

Psalms  32:8  I will INSTRUCT thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.

“One of the basic things that fathers do is to instruct their children”

We will use this scripture to share light on how to secure fatherhood in our homes. Fathers are needed so that we can instruct our children, we see in a place where a father was instructing his son

Proverbs  4:1 HEAR, YE CHILDREN, THE INSTRUCTION OF A FATHER, and attend to know understanding.

We see the first word here for children is to hear instruction of a father, fathers actually give instructions so that the children can come into understanding, and to have a good path in life. Instruction is key in life and fathers are the ones to give instructions to the children and when this is lost understanding is lost and children can miss their ways. Instruction is the life of children when fathers learn to give instructions to their children and we must ensure they hold fast to it.

Proverbs  4:13 Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is thy life.

  • For good doctrine or teaching

Psalms  32:8  I will instruct thee and TEACH thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.

“Teaching is inherent in fathers and when children learn to listening they will become what they are hear from their fathers”

Proverbs  4:2 For I GIVE YOU GOOD DOCTRINE, forsake ye not my law.

You see, fathers give good doctrine and children are to learn to keep to them. Doctrine actually means teaching. Fathers teach with much authority that makes the children to listen and walk with those teachings with reverence. When children lack instructions and teachings they may stumble in life

Proverbs  4:11 I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths.

4:12 When thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; and when thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble.

We need to restore good teaching back in the homes and this can only be done when the father is available in the home.

  • For guidance

Psalms  32:8  I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will GUIDE thee with mine eye.

“Every children needs a guide and the impact of father’s guidance is key to success in their lives”

Children need guidance because they do not know how to walk this earth, they may walk with the wicked because of the attractions that the world gives but with the guidance of a father children will walk in a right way.

Proverbs  4:14 Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men.

4:15 Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away.

4:27 Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.

Fathers need to instruct, teach and guide their children on the walk they need to take and the counsels they need to get so that they can walk in a blessed way.

Psalms  1:1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

When fathers are available to teach the children the right way to go, they will have long life

Proverbs  4:10 Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many.

Conclusion Remark

One of the reasons for instructions especially from fathers is so that our children will not regret their ways later in life when we don’t give them instructions or when we instruct them and they didn’t give heed to it.

Proverbs  5:12 And say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;

5:13 And have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to them that instructed me!

As fathers we must be available to give instructions, to guide and to teach them and we must ensure that our children listen to our instructions. Be blessed!
