”Don’t think to give, but give to think”

We have seen that giving comes in response to God in obedience. We will look at

  • Giving by faith.

Now we can say that Abel’s offering came from the action of faith because when we don’t respond to God through faith it is a sin to us.

Hebrews  11:4 BY FAITH ABEL offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.

Abel’s offering was accepted because of faith from the revelation of who God is to him. Faith is important when it comes to given or sowing which means our right respond to God and not just by doing things for the sake of it, which is termed to give sparingly, for God loves a cheerful giver. It means as we give we must rejoice and not with the frowning of the heart. The heart frowns when it weaves, when it sees no reason to sow the seed. It’s should be a privilege to give to God.

Abraham is one man of faith we need to consider how he give to the Lord. Even when the Lord asked for his only son that He just gave him, Abraham was able to give Isaac to God no matter what, knowing that God has given him His word already based on His promises. He understood that once God takes the boy and he is dead, then how will He establish what He said on his seed. He did it by faith

Hebrews  11:17 By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son,

11:18 Of whom it was said, That in Isaac shall thy seed be called:

11:19 ACCOUNTING THAT GOD WAS ABLE TO RAISE HIM UP, EVEN FROM THE DEAD; from whence also he received him in a figure.

Sowing is not just about giving big or giving small, sowing is not about giving what you have or what you don’t have, it is giving in response to faith in on obedience to God’s word. The truth is, God is pleased when faith is in place.
