“Meditation is an audible process, mediation is not what you do quietly. -Pastor Poju Oyemade”
An old English Preacher define mediation like this
“what happens when you’re repeating the scriptures to yourself until you started getting insight into the word of God”
I was shocked when I saw how the English Dictionary defined “mediation” and how meditation is really defined in the light of God’s word. We have believed that meditation is being quietly thinking about God’s word, but that’s wrong. Meditation clearly means to moan, growl, mutter and to utter. What all of these are without a sound. A speaking is involved.
Mutter: To speak quietly so that it is difficult for other people to hear what you say.
Though when alone you need to speak them loud to yourself. The truth is when you look at the word mediate in the Old Testament and the word “speak” they fairly mean the same thing.
Now lets see what will come to mind when we hear the word mediation which is from Joshua
Joshua 1:8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt MEDITATE therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
and the work speak in the New Testament
2 Corinthians 4:13 We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore SPEAK;
This here also means to meditate
“Confession at the beginning is a form of mediation. -Pastor Poju Oyemade”
Meditation is a strong way to make the word of God to dwell richly in our hearts, so much that no matter the noise, it becomes a consistent resounding in it heart and it makes God’s word to actually be true to us.
