“Our growth measure is in our quality life with God”

Ministry has a focus, which is first to be a blessing to your own self so that you can be a blessing to people by spending quality time with the Lord. Quality time in this wise is to have a good fellowship with God irrespective of the time you may use. I like us to go straight to the message as we look at this three counsels boldly written in God’s word. Paul speaking by the grace of God said

1 Corinthians 15:8 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be firm (steadfast), immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord [always being superior, excelling, doing more than enough in the service of the Lord], knowingand being continually aware that your labor in the Lord is not futile [it is never wasted or to no purpose]. (Amplified)

Let’s highlight them

  • STEADFAST

“Our strength lies on staying with the Lord such that we will become steady and fast in the Lord”

Paul speaking by God’s Spirit said to be firm or steadfast, this word is from the word “steady and fast” which we must learn to do in the Lord. Now why will Paul say we should be steadfast? We need to be firm in truth, in prayers and in the fellowship of the word. We are in a time when the truth of God’s word will be perverted and if care is not taken as a minister your flock can be overly taken by the darkness of the day and we must truly minister truth to God’s people people and not shift away from it. Things may come to distract us but we must be steadfast in the work of the Lord, we need to be steady in the Lord and not be tossed to and fro. The truth is, a steady minister will produce a steady church, when the minister is stedfast it will reflect also in the lives of his people.

  • IMMOVABLE

“God’s word in our mouth and in our hearts becomes a pillar such that can not be moved by any strong demonic force”

When you look at the word “steadfast” and “immovable” they look alike and they go hand in hand so it’s like Paul was admonishing us again to be strong and be immovable. One thing we need to be moved by is the word of the Lord, that should be the only thing that move us, and when we keep to it, it becomes strong like a pillar in us that we can never be moved by any power on earth, remember that God’s word is steadfast and it is a settled word. We become immovable when we learn to stay by God’s word, our fruitfulness in the ministry lies on being immovable even in the midst of all. One of the key thing that will be of strength to any minister is to learn to stay more in prayers. Prayer becomes the force in our heart that will make us immovable.

  • ALWAYS ABOUNDING IN THE WORK OF THE LORD

“Consistency in the Lord is the true success in ministry”

This is the last counsel given to us, always abounding in the work of the Lord. I love the word always there, it is not just for some time but always abounding in the work of the Lord. Being consistent in the Lord will keep us in the place of ministry, and not being consistent in blessing men alone but first in the Lord. Being impactful therefore becomes of force when we are consistent with the Lord first. In the Amplified version that we took the text from, this was added to always abounding in the work of the Lord to mean

  1. Always being superior
  2. Excelling,
  3. Doing more than enough in the service of the Lord

“If we are abiding in Him, the whole world can collapse around us and we will be in perfect peace because we have built our lives on a kingdom that cannot be shaken” -Rick Joyner

It may come to a point when you seem weary, when it looks like you’re not being productive and you seem to be alone and you allow weariness to set in, listen

Galatians  6:9  And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

The text we are considering added this few thoughts again

…knowing and being continually aware that your labor in the Lord is not futile, it is never wasted or to no purpose.

You see, these are the key values for being impactful in the ministry and finally, as ministers we must be given to prayers and the word continually

Acts  6:4  But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.

These are fundamental keys to being impactful in the ministry, to be given to prayer and the word continually, for therein lies our effectiveness as ministers of God.
