Luke 22:31 And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat:
22:32 But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.
Satan when to sift here is to separate Peter from among the brethren, that there should be a cutting away.
You know like Israel said sift is to remove or to separate and that’s what the devil desire to do Peter.
But, Jesus said this and He did prayed for Peter ahead.
But, it’s as though Peter did not understand it
So Jesus said… He prayed for Peter so that his faith will not fail…
Let me make you understand by the help of the Spirit of God.
The word “that thy faith fail not” to me means so after the “sifting” plan by the devil.
Peter will not be taken away even though he may fall to it.
So Peter didn’t understand it then Jesus said… You don’t know what I mean…
He now said… Before the cock shall crow this day you’ll deny Me three times…
This denial here is not something we should joke with please.
It’s a denial of faith of knowing(not identifying with) Jesus and that some will do and then depart fully from the faith.
You remember when Judas betrade Jesus… He sold Him out with money and then gave a sign of a kiss.
After that night what did Judas did? He regretted doing it. He went to hang himself on the tree..
So in the same vain Jesus said Peter… I have prayed for you against what’s coming ahead of you.
It’s a sifting I see and your faith may fall after… So I have prayed for you… That your faith fail not…
Then Jesus added… This is where you’ll understand it clearly with what Jesus said..
“and when thou art converted(after you deny me), strengthen thy brethren….
We saw that indeed Peter became a strength to the church.
He frontiers the church before Paul was raised for another mission entirely.
That’s what Jesus saw ahead and He did prayed for Peter that when you’re converted… To help others in the faith
