How to show that we love God is not by our mouth confessions but in keeping God’s commandments.
This is often found in the lips of many people as they this “Jesus I love You, You’ve Being a great friend and a lover and I love You because You first loved me. I love You, Jesus!” it was as if Jesus saw this going on in people’s heart and then He said this in response.
John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
Jesus pointed it out clearly that if you love Me, keep My commandments. No wonder they worship Me with their mouth but their hearts is far from Me.
Matthew 15:8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
Jesus here was quoting what happened in the book of the prophet
Isaiah 29:13 Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:
God is not looking forward to see you say you love Him with your mouth but proof it with with your heart by keeping His commandments there. Jesus didn’t speak of loving Him with mouth at all but with all the heart, soul and mind.
Matthew 22:37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
No wonder David knew said God’s word have I kept in my heart.
Psalms 119:11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
This is where it first start, in hiding the word of God in your heart. So Jesus said if you love Me keep my commandments, God’s commandments are His words, His doctrines. David said something about understanding in order to keep or observed God’s commandments with his whole heart.
Psalms 119:34 Give me understanding, and I shall keep thy law; yea, I shall observe it with my whole heart.
So you see you don’t proof God’s love by mouth but in the doing of God’s commandments, God’s instructions.
Jesus became more emphatic on keeping His commandments as the true proof of our love for Him.
John 14:21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
John 15:10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.
What’s the joy of a father that his children never obey him?
