“The power made available in the in the place of prayers is greater than the man that prayed”
In the last series, we looked at how our words and the meditation of hearts can affect our receiving in prayers, we understand that our words must align with our meditations in order to receive in prayers. We shall continue this series by looking at
- Disobedience to His Commandments(Words)
This is one the thing that led to the fall of man, when he disobeyed the word the Lord gave him. When you look at it physically speaking, when children disobey their parents they hardly turn to any of their request, it is also the same with God. God does not give ears to a man that does not obey His words. God is well pleased when we learn to obey His commandments and we understand that His commandments are not grievous. So we see
1 John 3:22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, BECAUSE we keep his commandments…”
Please note the word BECAUSE we keep his commandments. This scriptures can be seen this way in the reverse sense
And whatsoever we ask, we WILL NOT receive of Him, because we FAIL TO keep His commandments…
This is one of the hindrances to why we are not receiving in the place of prayers because we need to check if we are actually practicing or keeping His commandments and clearly the commandments were mentioned to us in the next verse.
1 John 3:23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, AS HE GAVE US COMMANDMENT.
Just to highlight them…
- That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ
- And love one another, as He gave us commandment.
When we have faith in His name then we have kept His commandments and when the love measure that we have in God’s kingdom is extended to one another. You see, it’s not grievous! So watch out for these two things. But note this, that verse says we should love one another as He gave us commandments, which meaning we must love one another as God loves us. How? John said we perceive God’s love this way
1 John 3:16 Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and WE OUGHT TO LAY DOWN OUR LIVES FOR THE BRETHREN.
I have personally noted this in God’s word, the family we belong to is a family of love and the love measure for which we love is never allowed to go lower, for by the same love the Father loves Jesus, He loves us too and He expects us to continue in that same love for the brethren. We are believers and there is something to keep, which is to keep God’s word by obeying it. If we say God is our Father and do not give honour to His word then we are doing well in our faith walk. This will hinder our prayers.
In the next series we shall look at another hindrance to receiving in prayers.
