While we have looked at how we have trusted the Lord, having some scriptures as back ups yet we see no corresponding result to our prayers. We tried in our prayer lives to avoided what James said that we should not have a double mind while we are praying because by it we will not receive anything from the Lord. Let me just bring this in very quickly, we need to learn the abilities of God before we can trust Him. We have often placed our trust on Him without first checking on His abilities which will then lead us to trust Him. The reason our hearts faints at the promise of God is because we have trusted Him first but have not checked out on His abilities. To give this in a clearer way, a man can say he will give you #50 million tomorrow but am sure the first thing you’ll check out for will be his ability to do it. You’ll first consider if he can do it at all, by finding out if he is wealthy, then you go on to look at his liberality and you see if he’s not stingy and does he keep to his word? You may even find around if there was anyone this man has been faithful to based on whatever he has said to people. When you are sure that first he is wealthy and he is liberal, always keep to his word then you have gotten his ability to stand on and this produces in you naturally trust for the person. Now coming to the place of God, you find out about His abilities and does He keep to His words and then naturally trust will flow. You’ll need scriptures like
Jeremiah 1:12 Then said the LORD unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it.
Isaiah 55:11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
When you find a place where He kept to His word then it means He can be trusted, so you placed your trust on God base on His abilities to perform His word, this will give you a full assurance base on His word and then you come to a place where you doubt not.
In the next series we will see the hindrance to why we have not yet received in the place of prayers.
