“When you have enjoyed the fellowship of prayer by abiding in Him, then can you at all enter into a place of asking”

We need to understand that prayer is first a fellowship thing, which occur between you and God. When we understand that prayer is a fellowship with God, how we pray will take a new turn and what we will pray also. We must understand that God also yearn for man but man is responsible to make the move. Let’s look at

  • ABIDING IN HIM

Intimacy with God is important in the secret place of prayer. You can become so intimate with God that whatever is in your heart to say or to tell anyone at all, God will be the first Person to hear it. If at all man need to know about it. To become intimate with the Lord in prayers will require your attention and time. A man that prays must always be seeking for fellowship with God.

John  15:4  ABIDE IN ME, AND I IN YOU. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.

John  15:5  I am the vine, ye are the branches: HE THAT ABIDETH IN ME, AND I IN HIM, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

John  15:6  IF A MAN ABIDE NOT IN ME, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

John  15:7  IF YE  ABIDE IN ME, AND MY WORDS ABIDE IN YOU, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

This scripture appear to me like Jesus is looking forward to have a fellowship with man. So He said “abide in Me, and I will abide in you” fellowship takes an agreement because two can not walk except they agree. Scripture said to draw near to God and He will draw near to us.
James  4:8 DRAW NIGH TO GOD, AND HE WILL DRAW NIGH TO YOU. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

You will notice it never said “I will draw near to you and you’ll draw near to Me” Even in abiding, it does not say that God will abide in us then we will abide in Him. It clear that, man will have to make the move to fellowship or to abide with God. Even though God seeks our fellowship, He expects us to come and abide in Him in prayers. Prayers is an intimacy with God whereby man makes the move to connect with God, so that God can connect with Him.

In the next series we shall look at ALONE WITH GOD.
