“Endeavoring to keep the faith in time of trouble is a way to know how strong our faith is”

Let me begin by saying this, thank you all for your comments on my first article here, am blessed and encouraged by all your kind words. God bless you all. Here is a small charge before us as believers of how we need to put things in right perspective especially our challenging times. When we rightly handle trying times through steadfastness in faith, it will be a growing time for us.

“When we learn how to respond correctly to challenges we will see that they will become the time of spiritual growth and increase for us. -Adetutu Adewumi”

We must learn not to walk by what we see, feel or hear, when we walk by what we see it will invariably result in carnal decisions and spiritual defeat. The devil is an adversary of the believer and he is skilled with cunning and subtle ways, by which he can advertise and dangle his worldly goods (lust of the eyes, lust of the flesh, pride of life) before us, such that we are so much distracted from the Lord. The onus lies on us to take a stand of faith and resist him “steadfastly”. Jesus was consistent in resisting the devil so should we.

“When we walk by sight we walk in the realm of the devil where he can easily ensnare us but when we walk by faith, we walk in the realm of God where His eyes can rest on us and then He saves us” -Adetutu Adewumi

Walking by sight produces anxiety in us, unbelief, fear and negative confessions and that’s because we are responding to what the devil brings to us and because we walk in his realm. But as the people of God, we must walk by faith and see beyond the challenges we are facing.

Job’s thought through his challenges was seen, he said

Job  3:25 For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me.

So we understand from scriptures that fear has torment

1 John  4:18  There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: BECAUSE FEAR HATH TORMENT. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

The thing Job feared the most came upon him, and I feel that it may be what the devil saw and he used it against him. Give no room for fears!  That’s why Jesus exhort us not to be afraid but to only believe

Mark  5:36  As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, BE NOT AFRAID, ONLY BELIEVE.

God also says to us that we should not give room for fear

Isaiah  41:10 FEAR THOU NOT; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

When we take heed to this words that the Lord said to us, there will be no room for fear in us and we will never allow any evil report, hence the Lord will prove Himself strong in us. We must understand that taking this stand is to walk in faith which is a way to please God.

Hebrews  11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

  • The patriarch that faced challenges
  1. The patriarch, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob all experienced a period of famine see (Genesis 12:10-20, 26:1, 41:54, 42:1-2)
  2. Hezekiah the righteous King of Judah was down with sickness that almost killed him (2 Kings 20:1)
  3. Elizabeth the righteous wife of Zachariah, a levite priest, was childless till old age (Luke 1:5-7)
  4. The early Christian in the Roman Empire suffered untold persecutions that severed them from their families and they were faced with gruesome torments (Hebrews 11:35-38)

All these saints instead of panicking they choose to follow the Lord and they kept the faith by holding on to the promises of God. This all overcame their challenges watching their trials change to testimony (Genesis 13:2, 26:12-14, Luke 1:13-16, 57-58, 2 Kings 4:2-7). To tell you the truth as people of God if you’re in any challenges right now, you’re in a good company of God’s people. What you need to do is to scale through with the eyes of faith. Faith is a way to secure our hearts in the time of trouble. Faith is stronger and able to scale through in any challenges. Paul even spoke about a comfort he got from God that is able to comfort anybody in any affliction or challenges. We need that. Therefore count it normal and all joy such that you will demonstrate a life of faith through all.

1 Peter  4:12 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:

Finally, scriptures says to count it all joy when we find ourselves in divers temptations because of the work these things will wrought in us

James  1:2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;

1:3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.

1:4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

Note it says “divers temptations” and not “divers temptation” so it means they are many but just a single faith is able to handle any trouble we may find ourselves such that it will produce patience in us. Scale high through that challenges today, God is with you.
