“Faith is seeing and responding to the word of God”
In the last series, we looked at the first principle of the doctrine of Christ which is: REPENTANCE FROM DEAD WORKS. We shared on what repentance is, in that it brings us to the end of our salvation but an unrepentant heart produces death. We shall continue this series by looking at
- FAITH TOWARDS GOD
Hebrews 6:1 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of FAITH TOWARD GOD,
Clearly scriptures defines faith to us that faith is in the now
Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
In faith, we commit our trust to God, base on the revelation of God’s word in our spirit. Faith is not towards man, because that will be an arm of flesh. But faith should be towards God. We understand that we can not please God without faith
Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
This means what will bring us to God is faith. When Jesus spoke to the fig tree and His disciples saw what happened later, Jesus said to them that they should have the faith of God. The Amplified Bible puts it this way
Mark 11:22 And Jesus, replying, said to them, Have faith in God [constantly].
Our faith towards God should be constantly and it should be as a revelation of God’s word come to us or as we receive them. Faith is an ingredient for our maturity, the syllabus of faith can not be exhausted because that is what our walk entails. It is a faith walk!
In the next series, we shall discuss THE DOCTRINE OF BAPTISM. Basically we have three baptism stated in God’s word. We shall look into this in the next series.
