“We need to be baptized and be filled with Holy Ghost till we are full of the Holy Ghost”

In the last series, we looked at DOCTRINE OF BAPTISM, where we considered the three types of baptism, which are: baptism of water, baptism with the Holy Spirit and the baptism of Christ. We looked specifically into the initial stage of our faith which is water baptism after we are born again. We shall continue this series by looking at

Jesus specifically told the Apostles to go to Jerusalem for the promise of the Father, which is the Holy Ghost, for which they will be baptized into.

Acts  1:4 And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.

1:5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be BAPTIZED WITH THE HOLY GHOST not many days hence.

We earlier saw that John said that he baptized with water but Jesus that will baptized men with the Holy Ghost and with fire.

Matthew  3:11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: HE SHALL BAPTIZE YOU WITH THE HOLY GHOST, AND WITH FIRE:

So we saw that as the Apostles gathered together in the upper room, they all got filled with the Holy Ghost and I will answer a question here; must everyone speak in tongues immediately after being filled with the Holy Spirit? I’ll answer this later.

Acts  2:2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

2:3 And there appeared unto them CLOVEN TONGUES LIKE AS OF FIRE, AND IT SAT UPON EACH OF THEM.

2:4 And they were ALL FILLED WITH THE HOLY GHOST, AND BEGAN TO SPEAK WITH OTHER TONGUES, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Note the word “and there appeared unto them cloven to tongues like as of fire, and it sat on each of them…”

This tells that none of them escaped that very encounter of the baptizing with the Holy Ghost. While this was going on, they were all be baptized with the Holy Ghost and with fire as John said to them. The Bible said they began to speak in other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. They were all filled with the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues. This we saw brought boldness among the Apostles, because they received the Holy Ghost, He now lives on the inside of them.

Now to the question, must everyone speak in tongues immediately after being filled with the Holy Spirit? No! We saw that Paul never spoke in tongues immediately after Ananias laid hands on him

Acts  9:14 And here he hath authority from the chief priests to bind all that call on thy name.

9:15 But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel:

9:16 For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name’s sake.

9:17 And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house; and PUTTING HIS HANDS ON HIM said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight, and be FILLED WITH THE HOLY GHOST.

9:18 And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and he received sight forthwith, and arose, and WAS BAPTIZED.

Paul never spoke in tongues immediately but we later saw that he did speak with tongues. He said to the Corinthians that he speak with tongues more than all of them.

1 Corinthians  14:18 I thank my God, I SPEAK WITH TONGUES MORE THAN YE ALL:

Again he said, he prayed in an unknown tongue

1 Corinthians  14:14 For if I PRAY IN AN UNKNOWN TONGUE, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful.

When the Apostles had that the Samaria have received the word of God, they sent Peter and John to lay hands on them so that they might receive the Holy Spirit but there was not a place that said they spoke in tongues immediately

Acts  8:14 Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:

8:15 Who, when they were come down, PRAYED FOR THEM, THAT THEY MIGHT RECEIVE THE HOLY GHOST:

8:17 Then laid they their hands on them, and they RECEIVED THE HOLY GHOST.

So, they received the Holy Spirit by the laying on of the hands immediately but they didn’t speak in tongues immediately.

In the next series, we shall look at the Baptism of Christ, the reason we need to baptized into Christ. We saw that the Apostles said the children of Israel were baptized into Moses as they journey through the sea. Moses was a type of Christ, so we also understand that we need the baptism into Christ.
