I see a need to bring up this topic here. I feel there is great need to pray and to support missions. Our missionaries will need not just our money, but they also need our prayers. By the grace of God I will show us why we need to pray for them. We saw that when great persecution came upon the church in Jerusalem, they all scattered abroad except the Apostles but God raised and used a man Philip for a whole city and the reason they gave heed to God’s word was because they saw miracles

Acts  8:5 Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and PREACHED CHRIST unto them.

It’s clear that we must desire that they will preach Christ because that’s the purpose. Paul said this also that we preach Christ

Romans  16:25  Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the PREACHING OF JESUS CHRIST, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began,

1 Corinthians  1:23  But WE PREACH CHRIST crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;

2 Corinthians  4:5  FOR WE PREACH NOT OURSELVES, BUT CHRIST JESUS THE LORD; and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake;

We must trust God that their intention must be to preach Christ because that is the purpose. This we see that Philip did and the next verse says

Acts 8:6 AND THE PEOPLE WITH ONE ACCORD GAVE HEED UNTO THOSE THINGS WHICH PHILIP SPAKE, HEARING AND SEEING THE MIRACLES WHICH HE DID.

Acts  8:7 For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed.

Another thing we must trust God for, is that there will be miracles in the mission field. It’s important because as a result of this, they all in one accord gave heed to the gospel.

We understand now that first Christ must be preached and miracles must be wrought in the mission field by the hand of the missionary. By this, Philip got a whole city saved and this is what happened at the end of the day
Acts 8:8 And there was great joy in that city.

There was a great joy in that city. That’s what follows when we preach Christ and not ourselves. You may say does that mean they have all received Jesus? Yes! They all did! See this

Acts  8:14 Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem HEARD THAT SAMARIA HAD RECEIVED THE WORD OF GOD, they sent unto them Peter and John:

Prayer: Father, in the name of Jesus we trust You for all our missionaries around the world that are in the mission field, that they will preach Christ and as Christ is being preached miracles will follow it, that the people may yield themselves to the gospel of Christ and joy will flow massively in those cities they are in!
