“The prayer of faith will lead to events that will make possible what you are believing God for -Pastor Poju Oyemade

A skeptic once challenged Richard Trench, the then archbishop of Dublin questioning the prelate’s testimonies of answered prayer.

“Your answers to prayer are nothing but coincidences” he scoffed to which Trench promptly replied, “whether my answers to prayer are coincidences or not, I know not, I only know this: the more I pray, the more coincidences I have, the less I pray, the fewer coincidences I have”  I firmly believe that the coincidences referred to are actually the activities of ministering spirits, angels who in answer to his prayer were released.

“God always sets into motion the answer to our prayers before we pray.

James speaks about the prayer of faith using Elijah as our example. Elijah heard the sound of the abundance of rain. He had God’s word for the situation, He knew what God intended to do. He however still needed to pray so that the sound could actually become the event. God reveals things to us so that He can execute them through us. He needs the right cooperation from us to fulfil His will on the earth.

Many who know so much but due to a lack of diligence in their prayer life have very little to show for the abundance of things they give sound too. Elijah stayed on the issue in prayer until a cloud like a man’s hand appeared. After hearing the sound Ahab went to eat and drink while Elijah went into prayer. Prayer, as taught by Jesus, is “thy will be done on the earth as it is in heaven.” We are not the originators of the petition, He is, that’s why apostle John said “if we ask according to His will He heareth us”

1 Kings 18: 41-44 “And Elijah said unto Ahab, Get thee up, eat and drink; for there is a sound of abundance of rain. So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his knees, And said to his servant, Go up now, look toward the sea. And he went up, and looked, and said, There is nothing. And he said, Go again seven times. And it came to pass at the seventh time, that he said, Behold, there ariseth a little cloud out of the sea, like a man’s hand. And he said, Go up, say unto Ahab, Prepare thy chariot, and get thee down that the rain stop thee not.”
