“In this world, it is either we follow God and listen to Him or we live to obey the devil. No neutral stand point”
In the last series, we looked at the anger, where we discussed what Jesus says about anger, that we will be in danger of hell when we call our brother Raca. Also we discussed on how God is much interested in our relationship with one another than in our offerings. We shall continue this series by looking at
“Where lust begins from is the eyes, it then enters the heart”
Jesus’s word is very important and we need to carefully look at it, what we call sin is not sin until we see it how God sees it. We sometimes deal with a “branch” of a thing but God deals with things from the root. You’ll remember that when Jesus cursed the fig tree the Bible says it dried up from the root.
Mark 11:20 And in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the FIG TREE DRIED UP FROM THE ROOTS.
So we see that Jesus is more interested in the root cause of a thing than just making effect on the things that does not matter. When the root of a thing is taking care of it is dead gone! Let’s move on, Jesus said that
Matthew 5:27 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:
5:28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.
So Jesus is saying that yes, you have heard in the old time that you shalt not commit adultery but guys listen now to what I have to say on this… “that whosoever look on a woman TO LUST AFTER HER hath committed adultery with her already in the heart”
You’ll understand here that the root is what the Lord is dealing with the eyes and the heart, not just the committing the adultery or fornication with a woman on the bed but through the bed to the heart to lust. You see, what this means is some would have undress the lady totally and completely in their hearts and by that Jesus said such and one has committed adultery with the lady already. But you’ll ask that “but I didn’t have sex with her” and Jesus will say “you already did in your heart!” and that’s why the Bible says to guide our hearts with all diligence
Proverbs 4:23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
Then job said I have made a covenant with my eyes
Job 31:1 I made a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I THINK UPON A MAID?
This that Job said is very important and it’s worth meditating on, why should I think upon a maid, have made a covenant with my eyes. When we bring the two together they become the solution to cure lust as Jesus stated it. Now bringing them together is
“I have made a covenant with my heart; by keeping my heart with all diligence, why then should I think upon a woman, because from my heart comes the issues of life”
When we look at this, it will help us engage our hearts and our eyes and then keep us far from lust. Let’s stop here, we shall continue this series by looking at what Jesus have to say about DIVORCE.
