“Friendship goes beyond “I like you to be my friend” it must proceed from the connection of the hearts”
Friendship is a very key tool in life, when you appreciate it you’ll find a fulfilling destiny all through your journey in life. For friendship to occur there must be an agreement because two can not walk together unless there is an agreement
Amos 3:3 Can two walk together, except they be agreed?
So as when we understand this, it then make us to know that the journey to friendship becomes easy because we are not walking alone such that even when we fall our friend will pick us up
Ecclesiastes 4:10 For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up.
This is clear and it is one of the purpose of friendship to lift one another up. Now how do you identify your friend?
- By your Spirit
“God’s Spirit points to us through inspiration how we ought to choose our friends”
We can’t live outside of God’s leading and guiding light in our heart, God by the help of His Spirit show us our friends such that we will be inspired to know this is our friend, when such desires come please quickly move close to such people. Let’s see the word of God
Job 32:8 But there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding.
It’s the Spirit of God that guides our spirit on the friends to choose, He gives us an understanding by inspiration. So you just move as the Spirit of God moves your heart understand that it is God that leads you.
Romans 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
So as God leads your heart just go ahead and make the person your friend.
- By a connection in your spirit
“The heart has a way of choosing true friends and all that is left is to obey with the help of God’s Spirit”
The way the heart connect to make friends with people is a deep one, often you may not even understand why but you just know there is a connection. In fact God arrange friendship through means you may not expect, discerning the person therefore is very important. I know some friends that we met through God’s arrangement and we are like a family. One of the painful thing is if we do not respond early as the Lord bids our hearts. Something like that has happened to me that I did not make some people my friends early when I felt a connection in my heart but have learn now that when I feel there is a connection in my spirit with some folks, I just connect with them straightway. So we saw someone like Barnabas who was able to identify Paul even when they he has heard his story on how injurious he was before
Acts 9:26 And when Saul was come to Jerusalem, he assayed to join himself to the disciples: but they were all afraid of him, and believed not that he was a disciple.
9:27 BUT BARNABAS TOOK HIM, and brought him to the apostles, and declared unto them how he had seen the Lord in the way, and that he had spoken to him, and how he had preached boldly at Damascus in the name of Jesus.
This that happened here may look simple but it’s not because we later saw that the Lord said He needed the two of them for a great assignment.
Acts 13:2 As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.
The question is why not some other persons? But I believe they have both walked together in a measure that they had a “rub-on” each other and the truth is thank God Barnabas identified Paul and was brought in to the company of Apostles. Friendship always opens doors to friends of like minds and often they are not top far from us. Today, as you relate with people learn to obey the things God brings to your heart towards identifying your friends and then respond to what the Lord says.
