Proverbs 4:7 WISDOM IS THE PRINCIPAL THING; THEREFORE GET WISDOM: and with all thy getting get understanding.
Proverbs 4:5 GET WISDOM, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.
Proverbs 19:8 HE THAT GETTETH WISDOM LOVETH HIS OWN SOUL: he that keepeth understanding shall find good.
There are basic ways in the Bible on how to get wisdom. We see in the scriptures above that we need to get wisdom. Also you’ll notice wisdom is always a friend to understanding as it follows it in the scriptures above.
Understanding is the strength of wisdom when understanding is in place, it gives accurate room for wisdom to flow effectively.
Now how then can we get wisdom, since scriptures says the man that get wisdom loves his own soul? I believe you don’t hate your soul that’s why you love to read this. Alright let’s move…I will like to follow how my friend Ayo Oliyide use to highlight his points, I cherish that in him and I’ll like to take to it because it is a good thing.
1. ASK FOR IT IN PRAYERS
One of the ways to get wisdom is to pray for the spirit of wisdom from the Lord, because scriptures says he will give it to us when we ask and you can only ask someone that he himself is wise, like we know that what you can’t give what you don’t have. God is the only wise God that we can ask for wisdom from.
Romans 16:27 To GOD ONLY WISE, be glory through Jesus Christ for ever. Amen.
1 Timothy 1:17 Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the ONLY WISE GOD, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.
Jude 1:25 To the ONLY WISE GOD our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.
If He is the only wise God then He is the only authorized person we can ask to give us wisdom. So what did He say in His word…
When we pray with a desire for wisdom God gives wisdom to us.
James 1:5 If any of you LACK WISDOM, LET HIM ASK OF GOD, THAT GIVETH TO ALL MEN LIBERALLY, and upbraideth not; and IT SHALL BE GIVEN HIM.
Proverbs 2:6 FOR THE LORD GIVETH WISDOM: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.
So we see that He said we should ask and then He will give it to us because He is the only One Wise God and that He gives wisdom liberally.
2. LAYING ON OF THE HANDS
When you perceive a man of God or someone has the flow of God in His life and that such is richly walking in wisdom, you can desire that he lay hands on you to impact that grace of wisdom in his life unto you. This is not a crime. We saw that the wisdom that came upon Joshua was impacted to him by the laying on of hands by Moses who was higher than him and that he had a walk with God.
Deuteronomy 34:9 AND JOSHUA THE SON OF NUN WAS FULL OF THE SPIRIT OF WISDOM; FOR MOSES HAD LAID HIS HANDS UPON HIM: and the children of Israel hearkened unto him, and did as the LORD commanded Moses.
You see that, Moses had laid hands on Joshua and he was found full of the spirit of wisdom. Not just that he was filled but he was full of the spirit of wisdom. This was needed so has to guide the people in the way of the Lord.
3. WALK WITH PEOPLE THAT ARE WISE.
There is a proverb in Nigeria that says “when a leave stay long with a soap it will turn to soap” this I found to be true. You must have seen some friends that have some measure of wisdom when you walk with them what they have will rub on you.
Proverbs 13:20 HE THAT WALKETH WITH WISE MEN SHALL BE WISE: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.
This scripture above is very accurate.
Everyone reflect the people they move with.
When you walk with wise men it says, wise men, the scriptures is specific, you also will be wise. But in companion of fools that’s where destruction comes. There is so much you can get by the company you keep. We see that when Saul was in the midst of the prophet he prophesied.
1 Samuel 10:11 And it came to pass, when all that knew him beforetime saw that, behold, HE PROPHESIED AMONG THE PROPHETS, then the people said one to another, What is this that is come unto the son of Kish? Is Saul also among the prophets?
So you see that
We reflect the company that we keep.
Whenever I want to walk in a particular grace I just walk with people that have it. I love to stay among the people that have what I lack, before long that thing will flow in me. It’s a principle. Stay close and walk with wise people don’t keep company with fools.
4 . READ ABOUT IT IN GOD’S WORD
Reading has not become our culture. I notice that reading from some authors will make me have what they have. When I stayed with Kenneth Hagin’s book my thought line begin to have his pattern of thought and then I begin to learn how he writes and how he talks. Have never found him speak against men of God so I won’t. So, you can read from the word of God and from authors that has that grace of wisdom operating in their lives. I will advice on the issue of authors on wisdom please be led by God. Not all wisdom are from God, except it is breathe by the word of God. You need to know that wisdom can be gotten through the word of God when you read about it. Take for example.
1 Corinthians 1:30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, WHO OF GOD IS MADE UNTO US WISDOM, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
When you see scriptures like this, your mind begin to pick up faith in Jesus because God has made Him unto you wisdom. When you read this then it begins to bring up desire in you that indeed you have the wisdom of God and that God has made Jesus to be wisdom unto you. Faith is required in this and in all that we mentioned. Faith is the key to wisdom.
