Children always need their parents especially in times when they failed or fall, this times will look as though the whole world is against them but as parents we must comfort them because it’s not a time to speak wrongly to them and then compare them with the children in the neighbourhood. We have failed before and we know what it means to fail, we should learn to comfort and speak words that will help them rise up to succeeed again in the things they failed in rather than speak wrong words to them that will kill the strength to even rise again for success.
How do we encourage our children
- Encourage them to rise up again
“There is no rising without a falling”
Everyone that rise today as once fallen yesterday and you must understand that you can’t rise without a fall. It does not matter how they fail, they can still rise up again and be champions in life.
Proverbs 24:16 For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.
Micah 7:8 Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a light unto me.
- Tell them to forget about the past and then press on
“The past is past and we must learn to leave it in the past and focus on the future”
Children too can meditate on the things of the past, regret can begin to take their lives and make them feel they can never be anything again. When children give up in life like this it is always dangerous, so there is need for them to forget what’s behind like Paul said and focus on what is before them and God also said to forget about them
“When you learn to forget the things that have passed or your passed failures you give room for new things”
Isaiah 43:18 Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.
43:19 Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.
Paul said about himself on achieving his goal
Philippians 3:13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: BUT THIS ONE THING I DO, FORGETTING THOSE THINGS WHICH ARE BEHIND, AND REACHING FORTH UNTO THOSE THINGS WHICH ARE BEFORE,
3:14 I PRESS toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
- Tell them not to fear
“Fear will hold us from reaching our goal, but if we can have a little courage even the strength of God we will see that what we actually fear is nothing but an obstacle to keep us from moving forward”
Fear is a strong force that makes a lot not to rise up again and to move on in life, even the fear of failing again is something that can make them fail again. The Bible says fear has torment
1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: BECAUSE FEAR HATH TORMENT. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
So we understand that fear can hold our children from moving forward so we need to tell them what God is saying about fear
Isaiah 41:10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
When we learn to comfort and encourage our children it is a deep joy to them and they will appreciate us better when they indeed succeed again. They will remember how we comforted them and encouraged them to press on in their times of trouble, they will see us as good parents and truly when they succeed again we will be the first person they will share it with and we must gladly receive them with joy.
