“Obedience is a path by which you gain stature spiritually.”

We have looked at how grace was given and we receiving the grace for the obedience of the faith. There is no way you can walk without being committed to a life of obedience. When scriptures talked about the faith of some people, I want to listen especially how they also gave themselves to obedience. I know that to get a certain result or the same result as someone, then you have to give attention to how things was done.

Apostle Paul was writing to the Romans, he said that if there is anything first of all that he is thanking God for in their lives. It is how their faith is spoken of throughout the whole world.

Romans  1:8 First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, THAT YOUR FAITH is spoken of throughout the whole world.

Then, it keeps me thinking on how they did it. You know this same thing was spoken of the church in Thessalonica. But, I see this about them that they were also obedient.

Romans  16:19 FOR YOUR OBEDIENCE is come abroad unto all men. I am glad therefore on your behalf: but yet I would have you wise unto that which is good, and simple concerning evil.
You see, is their obedience. It was also their faith. When these two are in place in the life of a believer, he journey faster in the Lord. Obedience is what makes faith meaningful. Faith is of no effect except obedience comes into place. We need to pay attention to obedience because it is important. Now, I see in the scriptures two words on obedience and faith

  • Obedience to the faith
  • Obedience of faith.

I want to believe they are different. Though we have talked about obedience to the faith. So, the obedience of faith is important. Paul even said it should not be by word alone but in deed.

Romans  15:18 For I will not dare to speak of any of those things which Christ hath not wrought by me, to make the Gentiles obedient, by word and deed,
For us to successfully walk in the counsel of God, we must make progress in obedience of faith. That is, not just paying attention to faith but also giving attention to obedience by walking in it.
