“Before we praise ourselves on what is committed to us we must remember the BUT GOD”
Beloved, we have taken some glory to ourselves beyond normal, that God is using us in various ways should not make us feel we are the ones doing the work by ascribing glory to ourselves. We need to know that we are not sufficient of ourselves to think ANYTHING of ourselves…
2 Corinthians 3:5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to THINK any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is OF GOD;
We are not sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves. We should not even come near to think anything of ourselves by taking the credit that we are the ones doing things but we must know that it is the Lord.
“What will make a heart humble is when he knows that what the Lord is doing through him is OF GOD”
People may be applauding you and praising you, be careful enough to give the credit to God both in the secret and in the open. We are not sufficient of ourselves but our sufficiency is of God. Learn not to take the applaude of men even when they do, be wise enough to count it to God.
We must keep in mind always not to think of ourselves to be something because of the flow of the anointing, we must keep humble by submitting to the Lord because our sufficiency is of the Lord. We must learn not to think it, for by that pride may set in.
Galatians 6:3 For if a man THINK himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself.
“The highest deceit is to say my hands has brought me this when it is actually the mercy of the Lord that brought it”
Bible says we deceive ourselves by thinking we are something on the ground of what the Lord is doing in our lives. Brethren, you are nothing. This is not to mean your identity in Him but by the work He is doing through you.
2 Corinthians 12:11 I am become a fool in glorying; ye have compelled me: for I ought to have been commended of you: for in nothing am I behind the very chiefest apostles, THOUGH I BE NOTHING.
If Paul could say this he understands what he is saying because in the previous verse he was buffeted and then he said one thing so strong because of the abundance of the revelations that he has that man will not exalt him above measures.
2 Corinthians 12:7 And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.
He has abundant revelations and this wise Apostle feared to be exalted above measures. It means when you pass that stage you may enter into trouble hence he received mercy then the need came for buffetting in his flesh.
So you’ll understand when some church folks were saying they belong to Paul or Apollos then he said we are nothing.
1 Corinthians 3:6 I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.
3:7 So then neither is he that PLANTETH ANY THING, NEITHER HE THAT WATERETH; BUT GOD that giveth the increase.
The important aspect of ministry is not those that planted or those that watered; there are seasons appointed when some men sow into our lives and there are seasons the Lord bring others to water it up but it is God that gives the increase. See how New Living Translation put it.
6 I planted the seed in your hearts, and Apollos watered it, but it was God who made it grow.
7 It’s not important who does the planting, or who does the watering. What’s important is that God makes the seed grow.
And this does not mean you’re not accountable to how you water or plant but the most important thing it is God who gives the increasing by working after the counsel of His will.
What to do is to acknowledge that it is the Lord that is actually doing it.
Philippians 2:13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
Philemon 1:6 That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.
The safety is to keep always in the heart that our labour over God’s people becomes fruitless no matter how hard we work except the Lord gives the increase.
