Psalms  127:3 Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.

127:4 As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.

Children are God’s heritage. We must know that bringing up a child is by the Lord, He is the One training them through us. Scriptures says they are taught of the Lord.

Isaiah  54:13  And ALL THY CHILDREN SHALL BE TAUGHT OF THE LORD; and great shall be the peace of thy children.

The fact that they are taught of the Lord does not mean we should leave our children to themselves. No, scriptures talks about a child left to himself…

Proverbs  29:15  The rod and reproof give wisdom: but A CHILD LEFT TO HIMSELF BRINGETH HIS MOTHER TO SHAME.

A child left alone brings shame to the mother, so it not good to leave a child to himself, you may think as a father that well scriptures says the shame is to the mother, well you’re not left out if you also leave your child to himself.

Proverbs  28:7  Whoso keepeth the law is a wise son: but HE THAT IS A COMPANION OF RIOTOUS MEN SHAMETH HIS FATHER.

So you see we are not to leave our children to themselves, even as we know that God will train them we must understand that we are the means to their training. As fathers we must be given to the word of God. When you’re given to the word of God your son also will be given to the word of God too.

“You can’t raise a life in a son from a life you don’t have.”

As a father we have a work to do in our children’s life. They also will become priest in their homes. We need to stand as priests in our families and then they will learn the priestly life from us. We must be lovers of God’s word and be a people that fellowship with the Lord.

Proverbs  4:1 Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding.

4:2 For I give you good doctrine, forsake ye not my law.
4:3 For I WAS MY  FATHER’S SON, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother.

4:4 HE TAUGHT ME ALSO, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: KEEP MY COMMANDMENTS, AND LIVE.

“Fathers are first teachers to their children before they are teachers to people outside the box of their homes”

You see that, he said his father taught him when he was a son beloved in his mother’s hand. Teaching is inherent in the fathers and it is first to be taught to their children. When you learn to teach your son how to study the word, he will grow up never to depart from it.

Proverbs  22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, HE WILL NOT DEPART FROM IT.

“Fathers ought to learn to make use of their sons being children in other to train them so that they will not depart from it.”

You can begin to open scriptures to them, depending on their age you can get a story bible that will make your son have interest in the Bible. But especially they tend to love the word when you also love the word of God. You can also exchange roles with your wife, you take your girl and then she takes your son. By this you cause them to enjoy the measure of grace in your lives. Parents must learn to spend time with their children,  it’s highly important. They need to have what you also have in Christ Jesus.
