One of the realities that set the christian faith apart as living and true is ANSWERS TO PRAYER.  No religion has such claim. On the bases of answers to prayer alone all false and dead religion are exposed. For answers to prayer shows to us two key things. Firstly it reveals that our God is the only true and living God.

1Ki 18:21  “And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word”.

1Ki 18:22  “Then said Elijah unto the people, I, even I only, remain a prophet of the LORD; but Baal’s prophets are four hundred and fifty men”.

1Ki 18:23  “Let them therefore give us two bullocks; and let them choose one bullock for themselves, and cut it in pieces, and lay it on wood, and put no fire under: and I will dress the other bullock, and lay it on wood, and put no fire under”:

1Ki 18:24  “And call ye on the name of your gods, and I will call on the name of the LORD: and the GOD THAT ANSWERETH by fire, LET HIM BE GOD. And all the people answered and said, It is well spoken”.

The true and living God always respond when his people call on his name. So we pray because we know that there is a true and living God at the other end of the communication that listens and respond.

Secondly answers to prayer reveals  that we are God’s people and we are in a relationship of life with Him. For prayer his the exclusive privilege of those who are children of God by faith in Christ.

Mat 6:9  “After this manner therefore pray ye: OUR FATHER which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name”

In the model prayer taught by the lord in matthew 6:9-15, the truth in this phrase “OUR FATHER” is the foundation and the starting point of prayer. In other words God only responds to the prayers of those who recognise Him as both their God and their father. The invitation to pray is always and has always been to God’s people who are called by His name. it is from that state and position of being a child of God born of the spirit into the family of God that we hallow the name of the father, desire his kingdom to come and ask for his will to be done on earth. It is from that place of sonship we ask him to give us our daily provision etc.

Rom 8:15  “For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby WE CRY, ABBA, FATHER”.

Rom 10:13  “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved”.

So for those who have not received the spirit of abduction by which they cry “ABBA FATHER” the only prayer from their lips that God will honor is the call on the name of the lord for salvation.

Never should we pray just to mark the time or look spiritual or fulfill all righteousness. Neither should we accept un-answered prayers as the norm of the christian faith for it is not the norm of the christian faith not to receive answers to prayer. Not receiving answers to our prayer is an affront to God as the true and living God and your father-son relationship with God. So my dear brethren, when we pray we are not just speaking to ourselve, neither are we speaking to the air. No! our prayer is to God our father who hears and response to prayers directed to Him through Jesus Christ. So when you pray always expect feedback from the father. Our God is alive and He hears and responds to the prayers of his chilfren. There is ANSWERS FROM HEAVEN for God’s people. Glory to God.
